The football community is in deep mourning following the tragic passing of Stellenbosch FC and Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams at his apartment over the weekend.
Family members speaking to the Rapport publication have shared heartbreaking details surrounding the final hours leading up to the incident, which is currently under police investigation.
Key Circumstances Surrounding the Tragedy:
• Domestic Altercation: A close relative revealed that Adams allegedly had a heated disagreement with his partner on Friday night regarding his expenditures while out socializing with friends, as automated bank notifications were actively reflecting on her mobile phone.
• Distress Call: On Saturday morning at approximately 08:00, Adams allegedly placed an urgent phone call to his father, stating that he could no longer cope with the overwhelming pressure.
• Emergency Response: His father rushed immediately to the apartment. Upon arrival, he discovered that Adams had locked himself inside the bathroom. After forcing the door open, emergency interventions unfortunately proved too late.
• Compound Grief: Relatives noted that the young athlete had been quietly battling severe emotional distress, heavily weighed down by the recent losses of both his grandmother and a close friend.
SAPS officials have opened an inquest docket to formally determine the cause of death, while tributes continue to pour in for the talented midfielder.
