The announcement was made ahead of the annual Mandela Day Walk & Run at DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, where the President—an avid long-distance walker—joined thousands of citizens in completing the commemorative five-kilometre course.

• Emergency Infrastructure Drive: Headed by the Department of Water and Sanitation, the rollouts mark the launch of the National Water Access Acceleration Programme, an emergency intervention to provide clean drinking water to unserved rural settlements.
• Targeted Provincial Rollout: Phase one of the R200 million water drive focused intensively on underserved communities across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape, benefiting over 125,000 residents.
• Flagship Sites Unveiled: Key infrastructure handovers included the Klipdrift Modular Water Package Plant in Hammanskraal, the Nhlengile Package Plant in uMzinyathi, and the Mncwasa Scheme in Mqanduli.
