Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has firmly ruled out entering into any formal coalition or governance agreements with the Democratic Alliance (DA) or the Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus). Speaking during political engagements ahead of South Africa's upcoming local government elections, Malema emphasized that partnering with center-right or conservative political organizations directly contradicts the EFF's progressive ideology and founding charter.
Malema asserted that his party would rather fulfill its constitutional mandate as an active opposition force than compromise its policy principles for executive power. He criticized multi-party arrangements that include market-oriented or right-leaning parties, arguing that such alliances fail to advance structural socio-economic transformation, land reform, or state-led economic development for the working class.
In his address, the EFF commander-in-chief also reaffirmed the party's Pan-African stance, explicitly rejecting rising anti-immigrant sentiment and populist campaigns targeting nationals from neighboring African states. Malema urged citizens to embrace continental unity and solidarity, warning that scapegoating foreign nationals detracts from addressing systemic governance failures, service delivery deficits, and broader economic inequality across local municipalities.
